Recently, AmCham Real Estate Council discussion participants came to a conclusion that while offices are not dead, home office is here to stay. Companies have adopted the ‘no additional desks‘ principle, measure occupancy, create heat maps, or seating plans, apps to regulate parking, they consolidate resources and communicate intensively with their employees.
The demand for office space in the future will be determined by productivity (the ways how companies will want to achieve and increase productivity of employees). More emphasis will be placed on how people work (and the design will follow). Hybrid working as the new normal brings along mid-week peak occupancies and empty offices Mondays and Fridays. Can we figure out how to use the unused office space? The group has also exchanged views on remote work/home office issues.
