The GDPR Academy is organised by the Confederation of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, together with the Czech Data Protection Office (ÚOOÚ) and partners (IBM, KPMG, and PRK). The Academy will help companies and other entities to prepare for the implementation of the new EU General Data Protection Regulation. The Regulation enters into force on May 25 2018 and will apply to all businesses, whether operating on or off EU territory, if they process personal data of EU citizens or monitor their behaviour.
The regulation is very complex; it is one of the most stringent data protection regimes and the non-compliance is punished by fines up to 4% of the company's global turnover or EUR 20 million, whichever is higher. Lecturers of the GDPR Academy will provide participants with a structured overview of obligations in individual segments of business operations and activities, as well as the individual changes the Regulation will bring.
There will be three seminars held with a focus on selected business sectors. The target group of the first seminar is company managers. The session will be held on 16 June 2017 at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in Czech.
