The Hlidacipes.org server published an article based on data by Česko v datech showing the number of students enrolled in tertiary education and how succesfull the students are in completing their university degrees. There were less than 200,000 students enrolled in Czech universities in 2001, compared with more than 300,000 students in the academic year 2014/2015, the article says. Since 2001, there was an increase by 120% in students studying humanities. The second largest increase was in students of medical sciences. (Although currently, the interest of Czech students in studying medicine is low, the president of the Association of Czech and Moravian Hospitals Eduard Sohlich said in an interview for Radio Zet, and many of those who complete their degree go to work abroad.) The number of students enrolled in technical university education rose only by 18% since 2001. There are currently 72 (private and public) universities in the Czech Republic. The number of students who completed their university degrees rose from over 30,000 in 2001 to over 88,000 in the academic year 2014/2015. Prague’s Charles University is the fifth most popular European university among ERASMUS students, the aktualne.cz server writes. Also, there were 1,300 foreign students studying at the university in the academic year 2013/2014, a record high, mainly students from Germany, France, Spain, Poland and Slovakia.

The University of New York in Prague announced that the Czech Ministry of Education has granted the accreditation for their master’s program in Psychology (Master’s degree, in English language). It is the only one such program in the Czech Republic taught in English.
