OECD PISA: Financial literacy: 70.9% of Czech 15-year-old respondents worked outside school hours in 2012

According to OECD PISA 2015 report, total population of 15-year-old students enrolled at grade 7 or above in the Czech Republic is 90,076 (school-level exclusion rate reaches 2%). In 2012, majority was enrolled in the 9th (49.4%, more boys than girls) and 10th grade (46.2% more girls than boys).

OECD defines financial literacy as 'knowledge and understanding of financial concepts and risks, and the skills, motivation and confidence to apply such knowledge and understanding in order to make effective decisions across a range of financial contexts, to improve the financial well-being of individuals and society, and to enable participation in
economic life.' 

OECD shows two indicators for the Czech Republic (2012 data, other indicators are not available)
1. Difference in financial literacy performance that is associated with students' perseverance (in score points): -37
Explanation: Perseverance ("When confronted with a problem, I give up easily"): Students who answered "Very much/Mostly/Somewhat like me" minus students who reported that the statement describes someone "Not much/Not at all like me"

2. Difference in financial literacy performance that is associated with students' openness to problem solving (in score points): 12
Explanation: Openness to problem solving ("I like to solve complex problems"): Students who answered "Very much/Mostly/Somewhat like me" minus students who reported that the statement describes someone "Not much/Not at all like me"


More Czech girls (42% of the sample) than boys (39%) held a bank account in 2012.

 

As for sources of income, OECD survey found the following (2012 data for the Czech Republic): 
46% of 15-year-olds get an allowance or pocket money for regularly doing chores at home
58.7% get an allowance or pocket money, without having to do any chores
51.4% work outside school hours (e.g. a holiday job, part-time work)
16.2% work in a family business
41.6% have occasional informal jobs (e.g. baby-sitting or gardening)
89% receive gifts of money from friends or relatives 
27.9% sell things (e.g. at local markets or on eBay)
70.9% work outside school hours (e.g. a holiday job, part-time work), or from working in a family business, or from occasional informal jobs (e.g. baby-sitting or gardening)
