The Czech Republic remains average in the quality of education and research. The biggest problem is the lack of university graduates.
Only four EU countries have a lower proportion of young university graduates, according to the Prosperity and Financial Health Index. This is also the reason why the Czech Republic falls just below average in the European comparison of the quality of education and research. Although the country is investing in science and education and boasts quality universities, innovation potential is declining and adult participation in education is not staggering. Hope for improving the environment for science and education may lie in expanding cooperation between the business and university sectors.
