The Czech Republic belongs to the countries with relatively strong labor market regulation. Total number of professions, so-called regulated professions (for list of currently regulated professions, visit uok.msmt.cz). Compared to EU countries regulation of professions in the CR is still strict. For many professions requirements that may be considered as unreasonable are enforced. Current status negatively affects labor market flexibility and competitiveness of the Czech economy. On the other hand, it is necessary to take into account the protection of public interests such as health, safety and consumer protection.
