Czechstartups.org: Czech Republic among worst in Europe in invested private equity capital

Managers of private equity funds do not hesitate to lend money for a complete takeover. The value of transactions financed by the debt exceeded 36 billion EUR in Europe last year, the Czechstartups.org portal wrote. The largest recipient of private equity capital in Europe relative to GDP is the United Kingdom with 0.79 % of its GDP, the Czech Republic with 0.08 % belongs to the worst in Europe.

Radio Praha: Centre developing driverless car technology to open in Prague

The French company Valeo is planning to open a new centre aimed at developing driverless car technology in Prague this coming December. The move will make the Czech capital one of the leading centres in the world in the growing field of autonomous cars, Radio Praha writes, referring to the newspaper Lidove noviny.

IMF: Germany needs reforms

Germany, a champion of structural reform prescriptions within the European Union, needs a large dose of the same medicine at home, too. Beyond public investment in transport and telecommunications, and more competition in services, dealing with an aging population needs urgent attention. With the right policies, Germany can bring more people into the workforce—and for longer—to counter the demographic trend, argues a recent study accompanying the regular health check of the German economy by the International Monetary Fund.
