Competitiveness: Roaming charges ban. What are the pluses? What will follow?

 

At the end of October 2015, the European Parliament greenlighted the Single Telecoms Market regulation. The originally over-ambitious plan was reduced to regulation of roaming and net neutrality. Several authorities, including the European Commission, still need to issue implementing acts that would enable it in practice. For example, the maximum surcharge for incoming calls to be applied from May 2016 or the fair-use measures intended to avoid “permanent roaming” to be applied from June 2017. We asked major Czech telecoms operators to comment on the impacts of the decision on their operation and consequences for end-consumers. Read the attached interview.
