AT&T and VUT open new laboratory in Brno
On January 23, AT&T Brno and Faculty of Electrical Engineering VUT Brno (BUT - Brno University of Technology) opened a laboratory where students have the opportunity to work on solutions that are ahead of what is currently available on the market. The areas for research and development include 5G Communications, IoT, Industry 4.0, Big Data and Aerial vehicles.

2019 will be Defined by Smart Speakers, Rise of 5G Networks and Development of Cloud-Based AI
In 2019, smart speakers will be the fastest-growing connected IoT device category. Their market will be worth USD 7 billion. Fifth-generation (5G) wireless networks will burst onto the scene in 2019, and by 2020, around 50 operators will offer this service. Among companies using artificial intelligence (AI), more than two thirds will obtain these capabilities through the cloud. These are some of the conclusions of Deloitte’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) Predictions 2019.

EC 2018 Industrial R&D Scoreboard: Czech Republic: Aerospace & Defence Industry is the largest investor into R&D in 2017/2018
Companies in the European Union have increased their investment in research and development (R&D) for the eighth consecutive year. In 2017, they invested 5.5% more in R&D activities than the year before. This growth is driven by the automobile, health and ICT sectors, European Commission reports in its 2018 Industrial R&D Scoreboard.
