From Thursday 28th August the Prague Castle hosted China Investment Forum 2014 which was held after a six-year break. The Forum was opened by Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and his Chinese counterpart Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli. They discussed together priority areas of mutual cooperation and discussed for example also cooperation in healthcare, tourism, industry, research and development, agriculture or environment. They agreed not only on building of relations on national but also on regional basis. During the forum Zhang Gaoli also met President Miloš Zeman and received official invitation to visit China in October this year. During the forum Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek met with Deputy Minister of Trade Zhong Shan who was also member of the Chinese delegation. They met also after 6 years on the platform of Economic Joint Committee of Governments of the Czech Republic and of the People’s Republic of China. Then they agreed on possibility of cooperation in energy industry, mining equipment, development of infrastructure, aviation and in the area of tourism, healthcare and agriculture. Zhong Shan afterwards declared that it is necessary to broaden the cooperation and increase the amount of exports of Czech goods to China. Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek afterwards said that it was possible that Chinese companies could apply for a tender for the construction of additional nuclear reactors in Temelín if they could acquire all the necessary permissions. Eventually another member of the Chineese delegation Zhang Li-Chun said that China is interested in European technologies.
