Andrej Babiš entered government with the promise to run it as he ran his business. This was a welcome promise for many Czech citizens, who had grown frustrated with a long period of unstable cabinets and technical governments. It has, he now admits, a promise that has been hard to keep.
The first challenge is picking a clear target. In business, profit provides a good indicator of how well the business is run: most people start a business to make money, so how much money you make correlates almost exactly with the purpose of your business. That is not true in government. Government provides public services, and the success of those services, and the efficiency with which they are served , are the benchmarks for successful government.
