Monthly forecast: The industry probably revived before the end of the year
Data on car production and leading indicators suggest that industrial production may have grown significantly in November. Higher car sales and a still-solid labour market may have helped retail sales. On the other hand, deteriorating consumer confidence and accelerating inflation are holding back real retail sales. Year-on-year inflation probably rose again towards 7% at the end of the year. We expect this level to be exceeded in January.
Preventive restructuring in the Czech Republic
The bill implementing the EU Preventive Restructuring Directive – a means of financial relief for entrepreneurs (companies only) – should have originally been enacted and introduced last year. As the bill has not yet been approved by the Chamber of Deputies, the deadline has been moved to July 2022.
UNYP and the Czech Olympic Team activate their partnership
The partnership between the University of New York in Prague and the Czech Olympic Team officially launched on January 1st, 2022. The University of New York in Prague will be the Czech Olympic Team’s official educational supplier from 2022 to 2026, in a cooperation which focuses on educational provision and strengthening the Czech Team’s Dual Career program for athletes.

Prague Airport Handles Nearly 4.4 Million Passengers in 2021
Air transport is slowly recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic related travel restrictions impact, as evidenced, among other things, by the 2021 Václav Havel Airport Prague results. Compared to 2020, nearly 20% more passengers were handled, while the number of aircraft movements increased by 13%. The busiest day, in terms of the number of handled passengers, was 22 August 2021. The greatest number of passengers flew from Prague to Spain, Greece, and Italy. Amsterdam, Paris, and London were the most frequented out of the cities connected with Prague by direct flights.
