Figures published by Eurostat, the statistical Office of the European Union show that the EU27 seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 10.9% in June 2013, down from 11.0% in May 2013. The euro area unemployment rate was 12.1%, stable compared to May 2013.
Among the Member States, the lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Austria (4.6%), Germany (5.4%) and Luxembourg (5.7%), and the highest in Greece (26.9% in April 2013) and Spain (26.3%).
In June 2013, 23.2% of young people under 25 in the EU27 and 23.9% of young people in the euro area were unemployed. The highest figures were observed in Greece (58.7% in April 2013) and Spain (56.1%) and the lowest numbers were measured in Germany (7.5%) and Austria (9.3%).
