Fourty-seven local referenda took place in 2014, a record high since 2006. The average turnout reached 42.2% of voters and 24 referenda out of the 47 were invalid. The participation in local referenda has been decreasing since 2010. Nevertheless, the citizens show interest and the problem lies often with municipalities, Transparency International Czech Republic says.
