Life Sciences: Range of awards to Masaryk University, Brno

Competitions and awards improve any institution’s reputation in the expert circles and introduce achievements in science to the lay public. They also allow scientists to continue their work in a promising research. At the end of 2017 the students and scientists of Masaryk University succeeded in a few Czech and international contests.

GE: ATP goes to print: How has the Czech Republic become the control tower of turboprop aviation?

GE Aviation’s program director in the Czech Republic, Milan Šlapák, often feels like an electrician – he loves to connect people. He says: “I match contacts until the lights go up somewhere”. This way, Mr. Šlapák has managed to ignite a gigantic aviation industry project – development, testing, production, assembly, and service of the latest turboprop engine, the ATP.

ETUI: Job quality in Czechia increased: 'It remains to be seen whether this improvement is sustained in the following years and to what extent it can be linked to technological advances that promise greater autonomy and control for workers.'
