Businesseurope's Reform Barometer Spring 2016: Progress in innovation, skills in Czech Republic unsatisfactory

BUSINESSEUROPE's Reform Barometer, published on 3 March 2016, raises concerns that 'reform fatigue' may be setting in as the EU economy starts to extend its recovery from economic crisis. Results from BUSINESSEUROPE's member federations show that only 20% on the European Commission's recommended national-level reforms have been followed by satisfactory implementation, compared with 22% in 2015.

EurActiv.cz: Commissioner Jourová on Privacy Shield adoption timeline

The Privacy Shield should take effect in July 2016, but before that it needs to be approved by the EU member states in April. Their position towards the shield is unclear and the opponents claim that the new rules will bring no improvement compared with Safe Harbour.

OECD: Absolute, per capita number of doctors, nurses never been greater in OECD countries, including Czech Republic

The number of doctors and nurses has reached record levels in the OECD. Countries should now reform their training and employment strategies to better respond to people’s changing health needs and also reduce their reliance on foreign-trained health workers from developing countries, according to a new OECD report.
