Orders are growing but components for production are missing

In May, industrial production fell more than expected month-on-month after the previous expansion. The reason is the limited supply of production components. The year-on-year comparison is still strongly influenced by last year's slump. Weaker industrial production was also reflected in a reduction of the foreign trade surplus. On the other hand, construction grew slightly in May. From the financial market point of view, production data surprised negatively; however, this should not affect the expected further tightening of monetary policy.

Employee non-compete clause

There are three types of non-compete clauses in Czech law

  • General non-compete clause: applies to members of statutory and other corporate bodies of corporations, and to some freelance workers;
  • Agency non-compete clause: applies to freelance sales agents (obchodní zástupce);
  • Employee non-compete clause: applies to employees.

Mazars CEE Tax Guide 2021: Taxes in Central and Eastern Europe fell as a result of the pandemic

The international auditing and consulting firm Mazars is publishing its ninth “CEE Tax Guide”, which offers businesses and investors a unique comparison of tax systems in 21 countries in Central and Eastern Europe. The publication, in which Germany, Austria, Russia and Ukraine are also represented in addition to the Visegrad countries, the south European and the Baltic states, mainly monitors labour costs, indirect taxes, as well as various aspects of corporate taxation and transfer pricing. According to the guide, the global pandemic triggered several changes to tax systems. The study also looks at long-term trends, because business corporation investment decisions are also based on an analysis of trends and changes in regional tax regimes.

An alternative approach to resolving a potential competition law issue

The Office for the Protection of Competition (Office) recently applied an alternative solution to a potential competition issue related to vertical resale price agreements and customer restriction agreements. Although the Office discovered the existence of the agreements, it did not initiate administrative proceedings.

More Economical Engines, Hydrogen-powered Aircraft: Prague Airport Moves Towards Carbon Neutrality

Prague Airport wants to be carbon neutral by 2030 with the help of new technologies, more economical engines, sustainable fuels and hydrogen or electric propulsion of aircraft. Therefore, Prague Airport has joined the International Association of Airports’ (ACI) Net Zero initiative. ACI associates more than 200 airports committed to achieve Net Carbon Neutrality.
