European Semester Spring Package: Czech Rep is enjoying an economic upswing, but increasing tax system complexity is a concern and certain regulatory burdens are deterring further investment

As economic growth accelerated significantly in 2017, the Czech Republic is in a good position to address remaining structural challenges. The Czech Republic is enjoying an economic upswing. Labour market indicators set new records but at the same time signal limits to future growth. Inflation has moved above the central bank’s 2.0 % target. These are conclucions of the European Semester report published by the European Commission on 23 May.

ING Bank Czech Republic: Consumer confidence at new high in May

Despite latest market volatility and threats about trade-wars, Czech households remain optimistic given favourable labour market and increasing wages. Business confidence declined in May, driven mainly by weaker expectations in industry, ING Bank Czech Republic writes.

The Congress Prague Introduces Its New Web with an Extensive Service Suppliers Search Tool

The Prague Convention Bureau, which acts as an official representative of the capital city of Prague in the field of the meetings industry, introduced its new web pages. The web includes general information about Prague for event organizers, as well as instructions on how to obtain free marketing and financial support for their events with the assistance of Prague Convention Bureau. The site also includes an extensive tool for searching certified service suppliers operating in the meetings industry. The new Prague Convention Bureau web was developed by the AITOM Digital internet agency.

Legal Alert - Proposed new EU rules to help companies move across borders

On 25 April 2018 a proposal for a directive was published by the European Commission with the aim of amending the Directive (EU) 2017/1132 by proposing a change in the company law rules for cross-border conversion, division and merger. U.S. Chamber Leads Tenth U.S.-China CEO Dialogue

On May 15, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) opened the tenth meeting of the U.S.-China CEO and Former Senior Officials’ Dialogue, co-chaired by U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue and CCIEE Chairman and Former Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan. They are joined by top business leaders, former cabinet officials, and think tank experts for two days of discussions in Beijing.
