The Czech Republic ranks 38th globally and 24th regionally in the 2018 Global Entrepreneurship Index published by GEDI, Global Entrepreneurship and Development Institute.

Taylor Wessing survey shows people greatly undervalue data protection in their homes

The law firm Taylor Wessing has conducted research related to the Internet of Things, regarding smart home appliances and electronics connected online. In carrying out the research, the law firm wanted to find out whether people are aware of the possibility for the misuse of and unauthorised access thereto, which can result in invasions of privacy, for example, via the monitoring of conversations at home or via a webcam. Of the total number of respondents, nearly 44% said that they were aware of the issue and had basic or even detailed information about it. Almost 34%, however, said that whilst they knew something about it, they had no information as to how to prevent such misuse and unauthorised access. Nearly 23% knew nothing about the problem.

Service sector is the most regulated in CEE – Grayling AcTrend Report reveals

In six Central and Eastern European (CEE) markets, 1,040 acts were approved between 1 August 2016 and 1 August 2017. This is 5.3% fewer than in the same period last year. The number of approved acts dropped after 3 straight years of increasing productivity. The most regulated industry in 2016/2017 was service sector (14%) as opposed to last year when finance was the most regulated (17%). In comparison to last year, acts generated less media attention in CEE in average, the figure dropped from 48.5% to 33.1%, significant increase was recorded only in the Czech Republic, says the Grayling AcTrend Report 2017, prepared by Grayling in CEE.
