The Czech Republic ranks 4th overall in the 2017 EU Social Justice Index published by the Bertelsmann Stiftung, but challenges remain. "Though the Czech Republic still scores slightly above the EU average, in this year’s survey, experts point out that “Educational outcomes, and the employability of school and higher education graduates are generally good. One problem, however, is the low tertiary education attainment rate. Moreover, education outcomes are strongly influenced by students socioeconomic backgrounds."
GDP deceleration in 3Q17 was less pronounced than the market feared
According to Komercni banka, Czech GDP increased 0.5% qoq in 3Q17 according to the flash estimate of the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO). This represents a significant deceleration after the 2.5% recorded in 2Q. Yoy growth in the third quarter printed a strong 5%.
