World Bank: Toward an Innovative Poland: The Entrepreneurial Discovery Process and Business Needs Analysis | e15.cz: Prague replaces Warsaw as most attractive place for German investors

The World Bank project summarized in the report proposes a pioneering approach to engaging the private sector, as well as science, public administration, and civic society, in co-creating innovation policy, selecting priorities for public innovation spending, and adjusting public support instruments to the real needs of Polish enterprises.

OECD Global Economic Outlook June 2016: Czech Republic: Falling public investment is weighing on growth in 2016

GDP growth increased strongly in 2015, partly due to EU-financed public investment. Financial conditions and income growth will continue to support domestic demand, but falling public investment is weighing on growth in 2016. Although gains in market share are likely to be smaller than in recent years, stronger demand from European countries will support export growth, the newest OECD Economic Outlook says about the Czech Republic.

Czech Statistical Office: Private entities receive 1/6 of direct state R&D investment in 2014

According to the Czech Statistical Office, EU’s public expenditure on R&D accounted for 0.7% of EU’s GDP in 2014, compared with 0.8% of GDP in the United States of America and Japan. The Czech public expenditure on R&D (CZK 27bn, i.e. 0.6% of the country’s GDP) amounted to 1% of the EU’s expenditure volume. In the Czech Republic, private entities (80% of them were private companies) received direct state funding worth CZK 3.4bn in 2014, that is one-sixth of the total.
