AmCham Policy Report 2016, Issue 1 - February 1

AmCham published its 1st Policy Report on Good Governance and Economic Development in 2016.

Last fall, AmCham debated what our advocacy priorities should be for 2016. We made a strategic choice. We would get back to what we like to do: pursue economic development issues. Since so many others had jumped into the fight against corruption, we felt we could cut back our hours there, and start examining how research could contribute to higher value-added exports, or how the Prague-Brno corridor could become the primary catalyst for the Central European region. Arcadis: International Construction Costs Index: Competitive euro boosts investment attractiveness of Eurozone cities. Prague ranks 38th

Many European cities experience a growing attractiveness for construction and investment in the world in which to build, according to the International Construction Costs Index published today by Arcadis consultancy. The index, which analyzes the relative cost of construction across 44 major cities, finds that economic recovery and currency exchange rate fluctuations have triggered some big movements in the relative construction cost rankings...

Euro in Czech Republic: It could take 5 years for Government to decide

In terms of economy, the Czech Republic is ready for adoption of the common currency. The outlook for the economy is positive, said EC's Vice-President for Euro & Social Dialogue in Prague. Still, in an interview for the ceskapozice.lidovky.cz server, the (likely) next Czech Central Bank Governor maintains that the Government will not make the decision on Euro adoption in the next five years...

OECD: 31 countries sign tax co-operation agreement to enable automatic sharing of country by country information

As part of continuing efforts to boost transparency by multinational enterprises (MNEs), 31 countries, including the Czech Republic, signed the Multilateral Competent Authority Agreement (MCAA) for the automatic exchange of Country-by-Country reports.
