Research & development tax allowance – still one of the most popular subjects for tax audits

The research and development (“R&D”) allowance is a tax allowance that can reduce an organization’s corporate income tax base. R&D activity differs from other common business activities by the presence of an appreciable element of novelty as well as research and technical uncertainty. But the fact that the element of novelty and research and technical uncertainties are not sufficiently defined in Czech legislation was confirmed by the Supreme Administrative Court back in 2015 (decision no. 10 Afs 24/2014-119 dated 11 June 2015). The Supreme Administrative Court also stipulated that correct application of these concepts may change depending on circumstances.

From Prague to 147 Destinations Worldwide; Summer Schedule Comes into Effect

On Sunday, 27 March, the 2022 summer schedule comes into effect at Václav Havel Airport Prague. Throughout the season, Prague Airport will offer passengers a selection of 147 destinations, including 25 charter flights. A total of 58 air carriers will provide air connections with Prague. New routes, such as New York and Riyadh, will be added, while many other destinations will see increases in the number of frequencies, namely London, Madrid, and Paris. The number of operated destinations and active air carriers will reach ¾ of the record 2019 offer.

Passerinvest plans to invest CZK 35 billion in this decade

Passerinvest Group (Passerinvest), which celebrated 30 years since its establishment in December of last year, is behind the urban transformation of the Prague locality Brumlovka in Prague 4, which is one of the largest projects of its kind in Central Europe. During this period, Passerinvest’s investment activity has enriched the state coffers by CZK 71 billion. In the last 16 years, it has also been involved in the preparation of the appropriate urban development of Prague - Roztyly. The company plans to invest an additional CZK 35 billion in both locations in this decade. The outlook includes commercial and residential projects, the expansion of civic amenities and publicly-accessible spaces for the general public.

The Catalyst™ engine chosen by Airbus to power Eurodrone

The advanced European turboprop was selected by Airbus Defence and Space for the new Eurodrone

Prague, Czech Republic – Airbus announced on March 25th that it has selected Avio Aero to power the Eurodrone unmanned aerial system with its Catalyst engine. The program includes 120 engines and a multi-year service and maintenance agreement.
