HN: The Labor Code is lagging behind the requirements of the labor market

The coronavirus pandemics has fully revealed the demand of employees for an increasingly higher degree of flexibility. On the one hand, employers have been facing the challenge of low number of candidates per vacancy. On the other hand, it is difficult for employers to meet the labor market requirements, or they have to adopt solutions with the risk of being punished by authorities. Labor Code should be blamed for this as it does not keep the pace with the reality.

AmCham CZ published Czech Prosperity Report: Since 1989, the Czech Republic may have generated more prosperity and more potential than at any time in its history.

AmCham CZ Czech Prosperity Report was delivered to the government of Petr Fiala and to the Czech Parliament. The report is intended to provide AmCham members and the Czech government with key indicators of current and potential economic progress and an assessment of what policy initiative would most generate greater economic success. The Czech Office imposed a record fine of EUR 4 million for vertical resale price agreements

The Office for the Protection of Competition (“Office”) imposed a fine of CZK 97 million (approx. EUR 4 million) on the company GARLAND distributor, s.r.o. (“GARLAND”) for vertical agreements on resale price maintenance. Historically, this is the highest fine ever imposed for this type of anti-competitive conduct, which is the consequence of the new fining guidelines of the Office.
