Monster.cz: Ostrava - the city of a wide industrial heritage and scarce job openings for non-Czech speakers

Ostrava is sometimes called "Black Ostrava" and "Steel City" due to its heavy industry history. Ostrava's Vitkovice district was the center of the local iron and steel industry for decades. Though, this old image is slowly dispersing with promoting the industrial heritage as a part of an emerging tourism industry.

Eurostat: Czech Republic has 3% of EU's CO2 emissions

The Czech Republic has 3% of the EU's CO2 emissions; -0.7% year on year increase in 2016.

Eurostat: 1 in 10 Czech employees has temporary contract

The share of employees with a temporary contract has increased slightly since 2010 (around 8%). The gap between the lowest and the highest wages did not widen. In relative terms, low median wages in services and low-skilled jobs recorded the highest growth.
