Czech industry is expanding mainly thanks to cars

Industrial production grew again in December and the biggest driver was the production of cars. At the beginning of the year, we expect a slight weakening of production, but for the rest of 2021 growth should continue and reach almost 10% for the whole year. Strong industry corresponds to the growth of exports, which, given the low imports, means another foreign trade surplus.

Third call to apply for COVID – Rent support

The COVID - Rent programme, partly compensating for rent-related expenses for selected retail outlets and facilities providing services, will open for the third time. The third call directly follows the previous call. Moreover, the deadline for submitting applications within the second call has been extended until 4 February 2021. The third call has been open since 5 February 2021 and will continue until 8 April 2021.

Even a simple suspension of proceedings may turn into a legal battle in the Czech Republic

A lawsuit by a tenant is pending against you, who defends themselves by saying the termination of their lease was unlawful. In your counterclaim, should you seek payment of outstanding rent or the surrender of unjust enrichment? Even a layperson may come up with the correct answer: “let’s wait and see” or, in legal parlance, ask to suspend the proceedings. However, the courts are apparently able to throw a spanner in the works even in a straightforward situation such as this one.

Deloitte CFO Survey 2021: CFOs more optimistic than at the start of the pandemic but cautious

After a year of living in the pandemic crisis, CFOs in the Czech Republic are cautiously optimistic in their outlook for the future. According to the 12th edition of the Deloitte CFO Survey 2021, 48% respondents are more optimistic about their company’s financial prospects, which is 38 percentage points more than in the spring of 2020 at the time of the first pandemic wave, and 17 percentage points more than before its outbreak.
