Czechia ranks 26th in the 2019 Global Innovation Index, maintaining relatively stable rankings since 2014

The Global Innovation Index (GII) 2019 ranks and breaks down the innovation performance of 129 countries and economies around the world. Czech Republic ranks 26th in the overall ranking.

BCG 2019 Sustainable Economic Development Assessment: Czech Republic ranks 24th

Boston Consulting Group’s Sustainable Economic Development Assessment (SEDA) tracks relative well-being of a country’s citizens and provides insight into how well a country converts its wealth into well-being. Ten dimension and fourty indicators have been assessed for 143 countries in the 2019 data set. Czechia ranks 24th.

J.P.Morgan: 2019 Global Payments Trends Report - European Overview: Czech Republic with Highest Predicted E-Commerce Growth

E-commerce growth as a whole across the European region remains strong. It is slowing slightly in more mature markets such as the United Kingdom, France and Germany. However, a number of smaller markets present compelling opportunities. Of the 18 European countries we examined, 10 are projected to enjoy double-digit e-commerce market expansion between now and 2021, with the Czech Republic (16 percent), Italy (14 percent) and Spain (13.5 percent) ranking highest for predicted growth, J.P.Morgan write in their 2019 Global Payments Trends Report - European Overview publication.

bpv LEGAL: WHISTLEBLOWING PROTECTIONS IN THE CEE AND THE IMPACT OF THE RECENT EC DIRECTIVE

Major recent whistleblowing affairs like LuxLeaks have sparked a debate in Europe about not only the content, but also the methods, of the disclosures involved. Some whistleblowers have faced criticism and even legal action - all against the backdrop of a legal landscape in Europe with widely varying national rules and regulations governing whistleblowing. Seeking to harmonize law across the EU while encouraging responsible and effective whistleblowing, the EC earlier this year adopted a directive for member states to enact comprehensive legislation that helps public and privatesector insiders report EU law violations by establishing formal procedures for whistleblowing and protections for those who use them. In this article, we look at what the EC’s directive might mean for whistleblowers and their employers within the context of the current patchwork of regulations in several CEE jurisdictions.
