ING Bank Czech Republic: Czech confidence improved in August

Entrepreneurs, especially in industry, became more optimistic in August, helping to boost overall levels of confidence, even as consumer sentiment slipped. This is no game changer for the central bank, which we expect to hike rates further this year.

Lawmakers to accelerate the construction of motorways

The Czech Senate approved an amendment bill introduced by the Chamber of Deputies which seeks to speed up the construction of transportation infrastructure (among other things). The bill may now be signed into law by the president.

Prague Airport: Qatar Airways will introduce Boeing 787 Dreamliner service on route from Prague to Doha

Qatar Airways has officially announced that commencing 28 October 2018 one of the two daily flights from Prague to Doha with be serviced with the different type of aircraft, increasing the overall capacity by approximately 46%.  On flight QR292, Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft for 254 passengers will be introduced, while the second daily flight QR290 will continue to be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft for 132 passengers. Both frequencies will feature both Economy and Business Class cabin. Due to the increased capacity, the number of passengers is expected to increase in both ways by approximately 75 thousand passengers a year.

The Czech economy continued to grow through 1H 2018, but slightly slower than in 2017 due mainly to tight labour conditions. Unemployent continues downward, nearing 2.0%. The tight labour market, while pushing employers to compete to attract talent through softer means, greater incentives, and higher salaries, has also increased disposable income, positively impacting retail sales and e-commerce. Consequently, this leads to an increasing need for more warehouse space. Specifically, large logistics centres outside larger cities, and also smaller, last-mile and cross dock facilities closer to end users.
