Plogging Czechia – a new eco-friendly fitness trend jogs into the picture
For the first time in the Czech Republic, World Cleanup Day will see active runners taking part in a nod to a latest phenomenon known as “plogging”. The activity arose from the combination of jogging and litter collecting, or plocka upp in Swedish. Runners up and down the country who have responded to an appeal on social media will take part in the event under the umbrella of the Plogging Czechia project backed by the Czech Association for Corporate Social Responsibility (A-CSR) in collaboration with Coca-Cola.
Václav Havel Airport is opening a new stand and gate for long-haul aircraft
Václav Havel Airport Prague is continuing with short-term development plans and opens for testing a new aircraft stand and gate with a new waiting area. The new reconfigured stand can service either one long-haul aircraft with a wing-span of 65 meters, or two smaller ones with a wing-span of up to 36 meters. The, stand with gate is located in Terminal 1 and will substantially increase the airport’s capacity and make aircraft boarding more comfortable and faster, especially for long-haul flights, which are becoming more and more prevalent in Prague.
AmCham members debate economic topics for Prague with Prague mayoral candidates at Prague Congress Centre
On 12 September 2018, in cooperation with the British, German, French, Italian and Nordic Chambers the AmCham held the debate with candidates for Prague´s mayorality at the Prague Congress Centre (Kongresové centrum Praha). All candidates were given the floor for their statements and answers to the questions prepared by the Prague business community. The debate was moderated by prof. Štěpán Jurajda, CERGE-EI, Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education, Charles University, and Economics Institute, the Czech Academy of Science.
AmCham Brno-based companies discuss Future of Brno with Brno mayoral candidate O.Pospíšil, ČSSD
On 11 September 2018, Brno-based member companies of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic met with the mayoral candidate Oliver Pospíšil, ČSSD, in OREA Hotel Voroněž in Brno to discuss the vision for the city. The Metropolitan Plan (zoning plan) was at the centre of the debate throughout the discussion. An outdated zoning plan as well as related transportation, accessibility and housing issues lead to lower motivation for investors to come and for educated workforce to stay after they graduate from Brno’s high-quality universities. There are around 70-80 thousand commuters to Brno each day to study or work.
AmCham CZ Workforce Report: Manufacturing: National Employment and Median Wages by Occupation 2011-2017 - analysis
The American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic prepared an update on the workforce in the Czech manufacturing sector. This report focuses on main trends in employment and median wages in six occupational categories (managers, professionals, technicians, clerical workforce, craftsmen and plant, machine operators and assemblers) in the private sector at the national level.
