UN: Connecting science to policy: Major findings and recommendations of the UN Scientific Advisory Board to the countries of the world

Recently, the UN Scientific Advisory Board submitted a Summary Report to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. Among others, the report highlights the need to ensure a continuing flow of creative scientists. Countries should strongly promote education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for all children beginning at an early age.

OECD Education at a Glance 2016: Countries must step up their efforts to improve the quality and equity of their education systems

Czech students are increasingly internationally mobile, Czech teachers are generally older and paid less. As of 2015, 22% of 25-64 year-olds in the Czech Republic had attained tertiary education, which is lower than the OECD average of 35%. But compared with a full-time, full-year worker who has attained upper secondary education, tertiary educated Czechs in 2013 earned almost twice as much, or 92% more, recently published OECD Education at a Glance 2016 report says.

One in four public tenders in Czech regions was cancelled in the period 2013-2015, the reason often being that they were not attractive enough for companies, a recently study Public Procurement in Czech Regions published by EconLab, a research institute at the Charles University, says.

Eurostat: Prague, Ostrava inhabitants satisfied with the city's cultural facilities

Vienna, Helsinki, Prague and Stockholm were the EU capital cities with the highest proportions of their inhabitants very or rather satisfied  with cultural facilities such as concert halls, theatres, museums and libraries in 2015, according to recently published Eurostat data.

Russian intelligence services are conducting "an information war" in the Czech Republic, warns the Central European country's counterintelligence agency, the BIS, adding that Chinese intelligence services have also stepped up their activities in the Czech Republic, deepening their infiltration of political and business circles, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty writes.
