Financing SMEs and Entrepreneurs 2016: An OECD Scoreboard: Interest rates on new loans for SMEs in Czech Rep rising
The fifth annual edition of the OECD Scoreboard highlights developments in SME financing over the 2012-14 period. On the positive side, it shows that the outstanding stock of SME loans rose in 16 out of 27 countries,including the Czech Republic. New lending in 2014 surpassed 2013 levels in most countries, including the Czech Republic. Interest rates on new loans to SMEs in the country increased in 2014, compared with 2011-2013, the OECD scoreboard shows.
OECD Taxing Wages Report: Czech tax wedge stabilised
Taxes on labour income for the average worker across the OECD remained stable at 35.9% in 2015, ending a series of steady annual increases dating to 2011, according to a new OECD report. The Czech Republic has the 8th highest tax wedge among the 34 OECD member countries in 2015. The country occupied the same position in 2014. The average single worker in the Czech Republic faced a tax wedge of 42.8% in 2015 compared with the OECD average of 35.9%.
Morgenstadt City Lab project suggests measures to smartify Prague's governance, research&innovation, mobility, space, energy
The Frauenhofer institute presented results of an in-depth analysis of Prague within the Morgenstadt (City of the future) City Lab project. Based on the analysis of over 120 indicators and more than 80 action felds in Prague, it is suggested to base the strategy for a smart and sustainable development of Prague on three main levels: Governance, Socio-Economic Strategy, Technologies & Infrastructure. Results of ARC5 Forum: Policy recommendations to Education Ministers
Themed “Employability: Asia and Europe Prepare the New Generation”, the 5th ASEM Rectors’ Conference and Students’ Forum (ARC5) held in Prague, Czech Republic on 4-8 April 2016 focused on employability skills. University leaders and students from all 51 Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) partner countries developed proposals for the upcoming ASEM Education Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM ME6) to be held in 2017 in Korea. Policy recommendations include conclusions of the Students' Forum and the Rectors' Conference on how governments, higher education institutions, businesses and the third sector can better cooperate to equip students with employability skills.
IMF World Economic Outlook, April 2016: Among advanced economies, growth is again projected to increase marginally
The IMF World Economic Outlook baseline projection for global growth in 2016 is a modest 3.2 percent. The outlook is weaker than that in the January 2016 World Economic Outlook Update for both advanced economies and emerging markets. Relative to the October 2015 World Economic Outlook, global growth has been revised downward by 0.4 percentage point in 2016 and 0.3 percentage point in 2017.
