EC 2016 Education and Training Monitor: Czech Rep: Educated population, but adults’ participation in learning falls

The European Commission presented their 2016 Education and Training Monitor, an EC staff working document that presents a yearly evaluation of education and training systems across Europe. In the Czech Republic, the share of vocational education & training students in secondary student population is above the EU average, employment rate of those with tertiary education, incl. recent graduates, is high, population of low-skilled workers is among the lowest in the EU. Still, the adults' participation in learning has dropped.

Radio Praha: Czech nanotech companies move from strength to strength

Around a year ago Chris Johnstone of Radio Praha traced some of the achievements of the Czech Republic’s nano technology companies, many of which are making an impact on the European and global scene. Twelve months on, he went back to the source, chairman of the Czech Nanotechnology Industries Association, Jiří Kůs, and asked him how companies and key sectors are faring in this cutting edge part of the market.

Eurostat: Czech Rep: Gender inequality in ICT specialists, rising no. of ICT specialists with tertiary education

The countries with the most pronounced gender inequality in 2015 were Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, with proportions of men in the ICT-specialist workforce of 90 %, 89 % and 88 % respectively. Bulgaria has the highest proportion of female ICT specialists (28 %), closely followed by Romania (27 %) and Latvia (25 %), recently published Eurostat data show.
