TI: The Czech Republic improves scores in CPI for 2017, but the European average is still far ahead, the country faces risks
The International Secretariat of Transparency International (TI) released the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2017 (CPI). The Czech Republic gained a total of 57 points out of 100 and climbed from the 47th place in 2016 to the 42nd place in 2017, a shared position with Spain, Cyprus and Dominica. The average of the European Union (65 points) is still far ahead. The result, rather than showing the onset of a positive trend, reflects the frozen level of corruption perceptions. For real improvement, a few unpopular but simple steps have to be taken, TI says.

The 9th Edition of the Act of the Year has been Launched
The vote for the Act of the Year has started. For the ninth consecutive year, entrepreneurs will decide about the best legal regulation with a positive impact on business. In addition to voting on the best act, this year’s edition of the project will open up a discussion among leading authorities about the development of the Czech legislation governing the business environment. The project is organised by Deloitte, a professional services firm, and its legal office, Ambruz & Dark Deloitte Legal. This year’s edition will be taking place under the auspices of the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Czech Bar Association.

WJP Rule of Law Index 2017: Czech Republic lands in the group of countries with declining rule of law
The Czech Republic ranked 17th globally, 12th regionally in the World Justice Project Rule of Law Index 2017, the same results as in 2016. The country landed in the group of countries with Declining Rule of Law, still, it gained above median scores.
