Are we about to witness the end of the systemic bias defense?

A phenomenon known as "systemic bias of administration", which has long been the subject of discussions, is headed for a solution: a proposed amendment to the Administrative Code wants to abolish the possibility to invoke the defense of systemic bias, with the goal to make the decision-making process of administrative authorities faster and more efficient.

PwC: Global Economic Crime and Fraud Survey 2018 – Czech results: Only 30% of survey respondents use modern technologies to combat fraud

In comparison with our previous Surveys, it appears as if incidents of fraud at the Czech respondents were decreasing. 33% this year, compared to 35% in 2016 and 48% in 2014. This is contradicting the CEE and global results that show incidents of fraud reported by the respondents have risen from 33% and 36% in 2016 to 47% and 49% in 2018, respectively.

The end of investment arbitrations against the Czech Republic?

On 6 March 2018, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled that the arbitration clause contained in the Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments concluded between the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic and the Kingdom of the Netherlands is incompatible with European Union law, i.e. that the arbitration clause is inapplicable.
