CICDP: 14 European countries incl. Czech Republic seek ban on data localization

Czech Industry Coalition on Data Protection CICDP points to the fact that a coalition of 14 countriesm including the Czech Republic, agreed on 2 December on a position to push the European mission to propose a legislative ban on unjustified laws that keep data within national borders.

Czechs find the world’s highest growing plant, measure the highest waterfall

Czech scientists have recently discovered what is believed to be the world’s highest growing plant. While carrying out research in the Ladakh region of the Himalayas, they came across six species of a tiny plant, no bigger than a coin, clinging to a gravel on Mount Shukule, at an elevation 6,150 metres above sea level, Radio Praha writes.

CNB: Government again approves Ministry of Finance and CNB recommendation not to set euro adoption date yet

The Government has approved the joint recommendation of the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic and the Czech National Bank not to set a target date for adopting the euro yet. The Czech Republic will therefore not attempt to enter ERM II in 2017. The decision, based on this year’s “Assessment of the Fulfilment of the Maastricht Convergence Criteria and the Degree of Economic Alignment of the Czech Republic with the Euro Area”, was adopted by the Government at its meeting on 14 December 2016.

Eurostat: In Czech Republic 31% of turnover realised from e-sales

During 2015, among all Member States, the percentage of turnover realised from e-sales ranged from 4 % in Bulgaria and Cyprus to 35 % in Ireland, followed by Belgium and the Czech Republic (both 31 %), Denmark (23 %) and Sweden (21 %) recently published Eurostat data show.

Eurostat: 66 % of companies in Czech Rep that recruited or tried to recruit ICT specialists report difficulties in filling vacancies

Enterprises in all countries reported difficulties in recruiting ICT specialists, particularly in Czech Republic, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Austria, Belgium and Estonia, recently published Eurostat data say.
