For the fourth consecutive year, Czechs have to save the most in Europe to buy an apartment, more than 11 annual salaries

Czechs have to spend 11.4 average annual salaries to purchase their own 70 sqm apartment. Compared to 22 selected European countries, home ownership is the least affordable in the Czech Republic, closely followed by Serbia, where 11.3 local annual salaries are required to buy a new apartment. These are the findings of the latest Deloitte Property Index 2020 study.

EU summit: A historic deal reached

A marathon negotiation has resulted in an agreement on the EU budget and recovery fund. It is a significant step of solidarity and integration, but the hard-fought negotiations show that this provides no guarantee of unity moving forward and it is unclear how much political porcelain has been smashed for good.

Schrems II judgment: Privacy Shield invalid, SCCs survive, but... what happens now?

On 16th July 2020, the CJEU delivered its judgment in the "Schrems 2" case [1].  Most organisations rely on data transfer agreements - Standard Contractual Clauses – to transfer personal data to countries outside the EEA.  Organisations which transfer personal data to the US can also often rely on the EU-US Privacy Shield. The CJEU was asked to consider if law and practice in the US relating to access to personal data by the intelligence services should mean that either, or both – of these mechanisms should be invalidated.
